Blunder after blunder by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is taking Pakistan cricket to the edge of a disaster, Pakistan’s former captain Zaheer Abbas said.
PCB chairman Ijaz Butt had given a statement last month that England were involved in match-fixing in their One-day International against Pakistan of which the International Cricket Council (ICC) found no evidence of.
“I was surprised to hear Ijaz Butt giving a very controversial statement about the English Cricket Board (ECB) which he should’ve avoided,” Zaheer said on Friday.
The Pakistan trio of Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Amir and Salman Butt were accused of spot-fixing in an investigation by a British tabloid, The News of The World during their series in August.
“ICC wrote a pinching and insulting letter to PCB, telling the board to get its act together,” Zaheer said, adding that “it is an insult for Pakistan and its citizens”.
