Pakistan cricket team, who came into the ICC Cricket World Cup as under-dogs but defeated the tournament favourites and host Sri Lanka by 11 runs on Saturday despite of number of missed chances.
Pakistan will play their third group match against Canada on Thursday and Boom Boom Afridi has ordered his players to show more consistency on international circuit as it will help them to lift the trophy of mega event on April 2.
“We must show consistency because we are not known for that. We need to keep the momentum going in the Canada match because we still have a long way to go in the tournament,” said Afridi after the practice session.
Shahid Afridi is a leading wicket taker of the tournament so far with nine wickets in two matches and he gave credit to team spirit in their victory over Sri Lanka. “We had a very good win against Sri Lanka, so we want to keep the momentum going. We should not be negative about anything and must make winning a habit. We have to take every match seriously, more so against a team who we don’t know,” said Afridi.
“We have tried to gather some video footage of their initial matches but we are not bothered about that. After this match, we have New Zealand so we must win this one and then think about future games,” Afridi added.
